I came across something this week which I just had to share. Whilst trying to help someone out I discovered that they had no access to the admin area of their website and NO RIGHTS whatsoever to any of the software that they had paid a lot of money for.
It transpired that their website development company had built the website using their own template and to avoid anyone or any other plugin breaking it they do not allow anyone admin access and prohibit any changes or additions to that OR WordPress.
As you can imagine this places severe restrictions on any future functionality that you might need and indeed stops you from moving your website or getting someone else to deal with it.
My advice from this is – Don’t just check out the developer – make sure you READ the contract or terms and conditions otherwise you could be in for a shock !!
